Green Hills 37215

Green Hills. Hmmm. I guess the first thing that comes to mind besides, "nice neighborhood' (and that would be an understatement) is The Mall at Green Hills, Nashville's own upscale shopping mall. Macy's and Dillards are the anchors, it also has Tiffany, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Coach, Godiva, Brooks Brothers, Lacoste to name a few. We can't forget the Cheesecake Factory. The newest edition to Green Hills is the Hill Center at Green Hills. Stores include, Whole Foods, West Elm, Mitchell Gold, Posh, Pei Wei, Five Guys, California Pizza Kitchen, Zoe's Kitchen just for starters. Trader Joe's recently opened, although everyone was looking for Nashville to step up and change the liquor laws to sell wine along with beer in grocery stores and markets. Bandywood has upscale unique boutiques and consignment shops. Green Hills is also home the the world famous live music venue Blue Bird Cafe, known for it's writers night that has hosted many big names in the music business. If you want to hear live jazz and have a great meal, go to F. Scotts. So, needless to say, Green Hills has some of the best shopping in Nashville, as long as you are not looking for a bargin! Along with great shopping on the narrow corridor of Hillsboro Road comes traffic and alot of congestion.

Green Hills is a very convenient location being only about 15 minutes to downtown, Brentwood and the airport. It is only minutes to Belle Meade and Percy and Edwin Warner parks. These parks combined span over 2600 acres of green space. These parks host hiking, nature and cross country trails, an equestrian center (the location of the annual Steeplechase event) and horse trails, athletic fields, golf course, and picnic areas.

Green Hills is an affluent area with wonderful homes, many with actual land. The homes range from charming bungalows from $500,000 on big lots, just waiting for the McMansions to take over, to million dollar plus new homes with any upgrade imaginable. Within Green Hills, you have Seven Hills and Forest Hills. The homes are nestled in rolling hills with winding driveways that are barely visible from the street. Green Hills is gorgeous in the fall.

Green Hills is home to Hillsboro High School, Julia Green Elementary, Harpeth Hall (an exclusive girls school) and Lipscomb University.

In my research, I haven't found too many neighborhood or community organizations. I imagine most are involved in non-profit and civic organizations, country club activities and their children's schools (mostly private). I did find http://www.greenhillsmoms.com/. At home Moms supporting each other. Green Hills does have an awesome YMCA with all the latest equipment.

The main issue that Green Hills contends with, aside from traffic congestion, is density. Because Green Hills is a most sought after area and the land is at a premium, developers have begun building homes with zero lots or more than one home per lot. People established in Green Hills want to maintain the exclusiveness of their neighborhood as well as not increasing traffic.

Green Hills is a beautiful area of Nashville, with wonderful homes and great shopping! Just use the back roads to get around.
